enterloop: One Piece Swimsuit Roundup

I started this post with the intention of sharing a dozen of my favorite one piece swimsuits but I found so many great suits that I had to double it. The best thing about the one piece right now is that it doesn't feel like an afterthought. Just like everything else in fashion, there are trends in swimwear. Some years, the swimwear market seems dominated by bikinis but that hasn't been as true of late. Over the past couple of years, the one piece has made a resurgence. It's not just a functional bathing suit or a way to hide flaws on the beach.

When I was researching suits for this post, I considered not only true one pieces but also monokinis and tankinis. After surveying the market, I preferred true one pieces to the alternatives this season, with a couple of exceptions. I thought the green Thayer swimsuit, which is borderline monokini, was beautiful. I also love the idea of a surf-inspired look with a bikini bottom worn with a rash guard top, like the J.Crew look shown in the spread above; it is a great alternative to a tankini for times when you would prefer to show just a sliver of skin on your midriff.
